The complete study-abroad application timeline for Indian students
A 24-month calendar for UK, US, Canada, Australia and Europe applications — including the deadlines most students discover 3 months too late.
Start 24 months out
The single biggest reason capable Indian students miss out on scholarships is starting the process 12 months late. Serious applications need a 24-month runway.
Month 1-6 — shortlist geographies and course families. Take a diagnostic mock for SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT (as relevant). Start reading widely.
Month 7-12 — narrow to 8-10 target universities. Begin standardised test prep. Build 1 signature project.
Month 13-18 — sit for tests. Begin SOP drafts. Line up recommenders.
Month 19-24 — final applications, interviews, scholarship applications, visa preparation.
Deadlines students miss
Merit-based scholarship deadlines (often 2-3 months earlier than admission deadlines).
Early Action / Early Decision windows (US).
UCAS single-application deadline (UK).
Country-specific standardised tests (e.g. TestAS for Germany).
